Fiji football president Sahu Khan disbarred from practicing law
Prominent Ba lawyer and Fiji Football Association president Dr Muhammad Shamsud-Dean Sahu Khan has been disbarred indefinitely from practicing law.
Two other lawyers Mehboob Raza and Vipul Mishra – who were involved in the same case with Sahu Khan were ordered to pay $10,000 – as well as clear the Mortgage owed by the complainant as a result of their actions.
Independent Legal Services Commissioner John Connors made the orders this morning after finding Sahu-Khan, Raza and Mishra guilty of professional misconduct under the Legal Practitioners Decree 2009.
Dr Sahu Khan has also been ordered to pay back all monies owed by the complainant as a result of the actions commenced by him.
Commissioner Connors ordered Sahu Khan to pay off all principal and interest on the $120,000 loan in question.
This has to be done within 28 days.
The Commission also ordered that he pay $478 to the Commission within 28 days for the witness’s expenses.
Dr Sahu Khan has also been ordered to lodge his passport with the Commission within 24 hours.
Between March 2008 and May 2009 Dr Sahu Khan, together with Mishra and Raza executed a Deed of Indemnity with Shashi Kiran Pratap which they failed to honour.
The Deed involved a loan of $120,000.
