Paris Terror Attacks: How It Unfolded
In a span of few minutes, Paris was stunned by six deadly attacks.
Stade de France stadium was shaken under foot when there were three explosions erupted at 9:20pm local time, 9:30pm and 9:53pm during a football friendly game between Germany and France. The 80,000 viewers were clueless about the impending terrorist attack and many of them believed that the explosions were just firecrackers. In fact, the players on the pitch were at times distracted, yet still continue to play.
President Francois Hollande together with German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier was present during the said game. Hollande got a phone call in the security control room of the stadium at 9:30pm. As he got the messaged, Hollande immediately went out to the stadium to the secure interior ministry wherein he sets up an emergency meeting of the cabinet.
The match continued to run its course with 2-0 score in favor of France yet at the final whistle call, supporters gather together on the pitch since there were only 3 exits open. The player stayed and waited in their changing rooms.
According to prosecutors, it appears that 4 people, 3 of whom were terrorists wearing suicide belts died during the explosions, which took place at 2 entrances to the stadium and outside the McDonald’s restaurant.
While in Bataclan, there were around 1,500 people jam packed in a small concert hall where the Californian Rock group Eagles of Death Metals performs when several machine gunfire blast out at 9:40pm. Three gunmen calmly fire randomly and repeatedly into the solidly pack audience. It was a dark night filled with screams and gunshot sounds. The shooters reload their guns 3 to 4 times. One is heard shouting “Allahu Akbar” meaning God is the greatest as he fires his gun.
Those people trapped inside utilize the social media to beseech police to act. At 12:20am, the venue then stormed by Special Forces as it clearly turns that terrorists continue to kill people inside. In just 2 minutes raid, all the gunmen are dead. Two blow themselves and the other one was shot.
On the same night in the popular part of Paris at 9:36pm, a man with a high-calibre weapon was seen as he get out of car starts to fire at people having their meal at La Belle Equipe. Happy diners were just sitting outside the terrace and within seconds, the blissful clamors of the evening turn into moans and screams and everybody whether alive or dead is found on the ground.
A witness shares “it took at least 3 minutes and then they went back in their car and headed to the Charonne station.” It was a blood bath. 19 people died here that includes a plain clothes police officer.
Other attacks were also noted at Boulevard Voltaire at 9:40 pm, Le Carillon bar and restaurant; le Petit Camboge, Rue Alibert at 9:25pm and at Casa Nostra, Rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi at 9:32pm.
Authorities have confirmed that at least one of the Paris suicide bomber gained access to Europe on a Syrian Refugee status. The suicide bomber has with him his Syrian passport as he propelled himself up outside the Stade de France stadium on November 13. This was the deadliest attack on France ever since WWII. According to the authorities the passport of the terrorist shows that he was able to enter Europe on October of this year by posing as a Syrian refugee.
