Another Friday the 13th; as usual people believing in superstitions have been chattering about the said date and making efforts to avoid the unluckiness that the day may bring to them. But why do such people feel so weird about Friday the 13th?

1st The fear of Friday the 13th is called “paraskavedekatriaphobia.” And fear of number 13 is “triskaidekaphobia.”

2nd Mark Twain was once invited as a 13th guest at a certain dinner party, but unfortunately he got what? Twain reportedly said, “It was bad luck. They only had food for 12.” Accordingly, he was warned by his friend about the bad luck of the said number.

3rd Stevie’s “Superstition” – this song goes, “Thirteen-month-old baby, broke the lookin’ glass. Seven years of bad luck, good things in your past. When you believe in things that you don’t understand, then you suffer. Superstition ain’t the way.”

4th The “Friday the 13th” film franchise is being developed by Paramount Pictures, with a 2017 release date.

5th The band Black Sabbath released its debut album on Friday, February 13, 1970.

6th The movie “Alive” is based on the true story of a plane crash in South America on Friday, October 13, 1972. Fourteen survivors were found in the mountains after more than two months.

7th On Friday April 13, 2029, a large asteroid will fly close enough to the Earth to be visible without a telescope in Africa, Europe and Asia, according to NASA.

8th Reportedly, in August 1976, a man named Daz Baxter chose to stay home in bed for the fear of being out during Friday the 13th because if he goes out something terrible would happen to him. Unfortunately, while at home, the floor of his apartment collapsed and he fell six stories to his death.

9th The Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel offers special zombie, vampire and “Rocky Horror”-themed ceremonies every Friday the 13th.

10th In Ontario, Canada, motorcyclists gather every Friday the 13th for rallies that draw thousands of participants. The tradition dates back to 1981.

11th In 2010, a 13-year-old boy in Suffolk, England was struck by lightning on Friday, Aug. 13. As if things could not get any weirder, the lightning reportedly hit at 1:13, or 13:13 in military time. The boy survived and was relatively unharmed.

12th Celebrities born on Friday the 13th include Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Steve Buscemi, Max Weinberg and Peter Tork. Tupac Shakur died on Friday, September 13, 1996.

13th While for Taylor Swift number 13 is her lucky number. She said in an MTV interview: “I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first #1 song had a 13-second intro.”
