The Consumer Council says northern residents should boycott viewing Fiji Television because of poor viewing quality.
Council Chief Executive Officer Premila Kumar says many complaints against Fiji One has been lodged with the council.
She says only out of the 10,000 people only 1,000 have pay channels.
Kumar says Fiji Television must fix this problem.
"One has to look at their licensing system, they are here to provide a service and they better provide that service," Kumar says.
"You cant just say hey look it’s a big problem and we cant fix it. That’s their responsibility to fix it," she adds.
"You know it doesn’t mean that the North is away and is tucked away nicely you just ignore them, that’s not on, they should have a time frame to fix the service," Kumar says.
Fiji Television’s Corporate Affairs officer Tamarisi Digitaki says Fiji One has been down for a week because of a damaged part at its terrestrial transmitter at Delaikoro.
Digitaki says replacement parts have been delayed and that Fiji One will be back on air this Wednesday.
