Two teams left for O League

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

The Oceania Football Confederation is now waiting the completion of the Tahiti and New Caledonia club competition so they can submit which clubs will participate at the 2009-2010 Oceania League season.

The two relatively new to the competition will fill in for the vacant two teams that will compete against six other teams already confirmed.

Fiji, New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea have completed their domestic competitions and nominated their top clubs.

Lautoka will represent Fiji for the first time after dethroning three time representative 4R Electrical Ba from the first round of the National Soccer League.

Marist FC will replace Koloale FC from the Solomon Islands after winning the National Club Championship in Honiara a fortnight ago.

The draws for the O League will be made as soon as all eight countries will identify their winners to represent them.

Meanwhile Navua will be in a hive of activity this weekend as it celebrates its victory at recent Fiji FACT tournament.

Association president Anil Sharma confirmed that they have managed to get a sponsor worth of $7000 for the awards to be given out to the players.

Sharma said players will also share the prize-money of $30,000.

The celebration for winning the Fiji Fact will start at 1pm.
