Suva Grammar School marks 'Golden Jubilee'
Tuesday, February 09, 2010

Suva Grammar School today celebrates their 50th Golden Jubilee.
SGS Ex-scholars Association president Jasmine Tam says today’s celebration was organized particularly for the current students.
“To mark the celebration of the opening of the school 50 years, Suva Grammar School ex-scholars association wanted to celebrate the event with the current students of the school with a cake-cutting ceremony and a tree-planting ceremony to remember this event.”
Tam says that they do hope to improve the schools academic level to work along with their performance in sports.
“Like any Institution everybody has its ups and downs. We do realize in the last decade that the school excelled in sports but examination results were poor. The ex-students association has been knocking on the Ministry of Education doors and we have been working closely with the schools administration to bring about a change to that and our cries have been heard.”
Meanwhile the school will have a week long celebration in July for all ex-scholars living in Fiji and abroad.
