Police urge Methodist to follow rulesThursday, August 14, 2008
Police say the Methodist Church should abide by the rules set in their permit to hold their conference and not entertain any political activity. Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri made the statement after the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua Party to hold their campaign against the People’s Charter during the Church Conference. Sokomuri says if the Church does entertain political activities they will have no choice by to call off the conference. “They were granted a permit for the conference and the rules and regulations are clearly outlined in their permit,” he said. “No political activities will be condoned if it happens that they entertain political parties in this weeklong program,” said Sokomuri. “Police will have no other choice but to stop the gathering if they do not abide by the permit,” he told Radio Fiji News.
