A movie dedicated to the murder case of former Fiji Red Cross director John Scott and his companion Greg Scrivener in 2000, has won the Grand Prix at the Pacific Documentary Film Festival.

The movie, entitled “An Island Calling”, is directed by New Zealander Annie Goldson.

It focuses on the circumstances of the murder of the two men, who were in a de facto relationship, and the motives behind the acts of the murderer, a Fijian young man, Apete Kaisau, who was also a former friend of the couple.

Scott gained international fame when, between May and June, 2000, he was one of the only persons allowed to have access to Fiji members of Parliament, held hostage by coup leader George Speight, inside the Parliamentary complex.

A few months later, on July 1 2001, Scott, 53, and Scrivener, 39, were found dead at their Suva residence.

Their bodies were partly decapitated.

The Pacific Film festival was held in French Polynesia at the weekend.
