Scott movie scoops award at film festivalTuesday, February 03, 2009
Former Fiji Red Cross director John Scott at parliament during the height of the 2000 coup. Taken from / By: Google The movie, entitled “An Island Calling”, is directed by New Zealander Annie Goldson. It focuses on the circumstances of the murder of the two men, who were in a de facto relationship, and the motives behind the acts of the murderer, a Fijian young man, Apete Kaisau, who was also a former friend of the couple. Scott gained international fame when, between May and June, 2000, he was one of the only persons allowed to have access to Fiji members of Parliament, held hostage by coup leader George Speight, inside the Parliamentary complex. A few months later, on July 1 2001, Scott, 53, and Scrivener, 39, were found dead at their Suva residence. Their bodies were partly decapitated.
