Australia still to decide on travelThursday, October 22, 2009
The Fiji Government has asked the Australian Government to lift the travel ban which has been in place ever since the 2006 coup. The Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the chief justice Justice Anthony Gates has already written twice asking for judicial officers to be exempted from the travel ban. Sayed-Khaiyum says after the action by New Zealand when it denied a visa to high court judge Angela Wati a reply finally came from the Australian High Commission which read they are still undecided. Justice Gates has written to the Australian high commission on the 1st and 13th of this month. Fiji Broadcasting Corporation |
