Fiji President to be sworn inWednesday, November 04, 2009
The swearing in ceremony for Fiji’s new President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will be held tomorrow. Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama also confirmed that no vice president will be appointed to replace Ratu Epeli. “There is no need for the Vice President. If there is the need for the acting President, if the he (President) for some reason leaves Fiji or goes on leave, we revert to some arrangements where the Chief Justice takes over as acting President.” Ratu Epeli will be Fiji’s fourth President and became the vice president following the abrogation of the 1997 Constitution.
