NLTB starts on land reformsThursday, November 05, 2009
The Native Lands Trust Board meeting today signals the start of the land reforms that Government is pushing so it can carry out its economic policies. Now the NLTB has a fully fledged board following the recent appointments of new board members and the appointment of the country’s President. Ratu Epeli Nailatikau is the final board member to be named as his Presidential position makes him by virtue, the NLTB president and board member. Even though the meeting is not expected to address the land reform issue, it is expected to be a priority on the board’s agenda. The land reform is aiming to use unused Fijian native lands for cultivation as the Fiji Government moves towards a more agricultural based economy. Fiji Broadcasting Corporation |
