West best for dairy industryFriday, November 06, 2009
The best condition for dairy farming in the country is in the West. And the Fiji Trades Union Congress president Daniel Urai believes dairy farming should be expanded there. “In terms of the dairy industry I am aware that there were some talks and report made that the best conditions for dairy farm may be in the west than currently where it is where cows where it has been said that the cows that brought up in wet and swampy area the same cow may be able to produce three times more milk in formed dry land which is available in the west than where it is now because in a swampy wet and the cold cows are stressed under that conditions to produce less milk than they would have been able to produce.” Government has promised to offer special concessions to dairy farmers to set up the dairy industry in Fiji so that importation of overseas milk could be reduced to save foreign reserves.
