Portugal supports Fiji reformsTuesday, November 10, 2009
The Portuguese Government expressed its support for the reforms the Fiji Government is currently undertaking before holding elections in 2014. Portugal’s ambassador Pedro Catarino relayed this message to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, saying his country doesn’t agree with those countries that are demonizing Fiji. Catarino adds that his government wont support any move that will be detrimental to the progress that has been made by the Fiji Government in returning Fiji to parliamentary democracy. The Portuguese government says Fiji should be left to determine its own destiny and should not be dictated by outside influence. In response Ratu Inoke says Fiji remains committed to its objective and is confident that the Fiji people will be equal to the challenge. Fiji Broadcasting Corporation |
