Mai TV welcomes govt moveMonday, November 23, 2009
Mai TV has welcomed Government’s move to review the use of spectrum. CEO Richard Broadbridge says while the decision could be seen as interference - it is certainly bold and is welcomed by his company. He has asked government to state its policy in regards to Fiji’s transition to Digital. Broadbridge says they see this new decree as a step in the right direction to ensuring broadcasters are treated fairly and that TV and Radio services are available to users easier and cheaper. Last week cabinet approved the review of the Spectrum Decree. AG and Communications Minister says the current allocation of spectrum has been disorganized and done on an ad-hoc basis without any proper planning leading to and inequitable allocation. The Decree converts all licensed and unlicensed spectrum allocations and use to a temporary allocation or use. Fiji Broadcasting Corporation |
