Fiji Water Foundation donates $50,000 to CWMTuesday, January 19, 2010
The Fiji Waters Foundation has donated two more echo-cardiography machines to the CWM hospital to help children suffering from Rheumatic heart disease. Out of 575 children who were scanned in Rakiraki last year more than 30 were found to have rheumatic heart disease and received immediate treatment. Fiji Waters Foundation Manager Molly Powers says they are working closely with the Rheumatic Heart Control Prevention Programme to help find children who suffer from the disease. "So we’re working with this control programme and we’ve purchased 2 eco-cardiographic machines and the ECG machine is able to travel around Fiji and also be hooked up to a car battery. The machine itself costs FJ$50,000 and it can scan a child’s heart and detect whether or not the signs of early Chromatic heart diseases exist. Now the Rheumatic Heart Control and Prevention programme centre has about three of these machines and they are able to improve their outreach around Fiji”. Meanwhile, The Fiji Waters Foundation donated 52,000 dollars to 22 other organizations around Fiji, last Friday. Fiji Broadcasting Corporation |
