NZ gives Fiji optionsFriday, February 05, 2010
New Zealand has put forward some conditions for the Fiji government to look into before it can finalize the appointment of Fiji’s Councilor to its High Commission in Wellington. Permanent secretary for Foreign Affairs Solo Mara confirmed the Fiji Government is considering these options after the issue was broached at the recent foreign affairs ministers meeting. Fiji has already forwarded Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Leweni’s name to be Fiji’s first councilor in Wellington. However Mara says the appointment of Fiji’s Councilor is still in the Pipeline. Meanwhile Peter Thomson has been confirmed to be Fiji’s new permanent representative to the United Nations in New York. Government lawyer Luke Daunivalu has also been appointed Fiji’s first secretary to the UN. Fiji Broadcasting Corporation |
