Our reporter Eleanoa Osbourne is in Koro and filed this report: “Government is excited with the bio fuel project as the multiplier effects will be huge. Opening Fiji’s first bio-diesel mill in Nacamaki – Koro this morning Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama says the benefits to the villagers will be enormous and will contribute to national development. Bainimarama says the island’s bio-fuel project provides secure – sustainable – reliable – renewable and affordable energy. The mill is expected to improve living standards with the price of copra increasing from 470 dollars a ton to 600 dollars a ton. Instead of hiring transport for carting copra to the wharf and then to Savusavu the copra will now be picked from people’s houses.
