Sayed-Khaiyum to deliver International Criminal Court StatementTuesday, June 01, 2010
Fiji’s Attorney General and Minister for Justice Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is expected to deliver a statement today at the Review Conference of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court - in Kampala, Uganda. Apart from Fiji, Cook Islands and Samoa are the only other Pacific Island countries to have ratified the Rome Statute. Also attending the Conference are UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, the President of the International Criminal Court, Judge Sang-Hyun Song, and former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. The Rome Statute is the treaty that established the International Criminal Court (ICC). The statute establishes the court's functions, jurisdiction and structure. 111 states are party to the statute.
