The Fiji Institute of Technology is now reaching avid learners from outer Islands in the country and other Regional countries with its Open and Distance Learning mode.
Programme coordinator Veniana Salabogi said since the school’s inceptions in 2003, many school leavers and tertiary students are not aware of this service being offered at FIT.
Salabogi said part of the course is the Bridging Programme, which allows school leavers and working people access to further studies from where ever they are.
“The learning center is one of the 11 schools under FIT and in here we have three units that make the learning center the human resources development Unit, is the research and development and the other one is the Open and distance learning Unit. This is a very new school and it was established in 2003 and we are fairly young but we are really reaching out to the whole of Fiji especially reaching out to the outlining outlying islands and reaching as far as Rotuma and we have students that enroll with us from Tuvalu and Samoa”.
