BUSINESSWOMAN Laisa Digitaki has shown disappointment after she was told she was on the watch list that prevented her from leaving the country.

Digitaki was due to leave for Australia yesterday but was stopped at the Nadi International Airport.

Speaking to Radio Australia this morning Digitaki says she has not been given a reason for her travel ban saying Immigration Director Viliame Naupoto is being used.

Digitaki said,  “Now who is giving these instructions because the local media are now saying that Immigration Director Commander Viliame Naupoto is just carrying out instructions, he doesn’t actually issue the orders himself? That’s right I’ve heard that too and I’ve always seen Naupoto as an honorable man but his repeated excuse as someone who doesn’t make decisions except follow instructions is really sounding very lame and as a man who is known for his good principles I’m really saddened that he has chosen to be used as a vehicle that kind of oppresses and denies his own people you know from their basic human rights. Especially like the freedom of movement and the right to a dignified life. So if the Director isn’t making the decisions, who is? Well its definitely coming from the top. Which means he gets his instructions from his Minister. Which is the Minister for Home Affairs who happens to be Voreqe Bainimarama. I’m just surprised that his conscience will be telling him that it is not right to treat unarmed innocent civilians like animals or fugitives and it is just very unlike Naupoto, that’s what I’m saying.”
